Bio

​Darrell Mitchell II is a dynamic multidisciplinary artist—an accomplished author, poet, spoken word performer, and visual creator whose work inspires audiences across the globe. Since 1999, he has performed under the name D-Mitch the Poet, captivating crowds with his signature blend of passion, purpose, and poetic precision.

Mitchell’s creative portfolio includes three spoken word albums, four one-act plays, and an impressive catalog of 22 internationally published books. As a visual artist, he has produced more than 200 original canvas paintings and leads art therapy wellness workshops for corporate clients, educational institutions, and small business owners.

Over the past decade, Darrell has taught and facilitated numerous wellness, healing, and art and poetry therapy workshops, using creativity as a tool for emotional restoration, self-discovery, and empowerment. His unique approach blends artistry and mindfulness, offering participants transformative experiences through the power of creative expression.

A steadfast advocate for artistic literacy and community engagement, Mitchell has organized and hosted countless creative writing workshops, painting sessions, open mic showcases, art exhibitions, and cultural events. His viral spoken word performances continue to reach national and international audiences, inspiring thousands daily across social media platforms.

Recognized for his cultural impact, Mitchell received a Griot Certificate of Honor from the California State Senate, presented by the Museum of the San Fernando Valley, where his works are also featured.
